Heiß laufen war so ein bisschen das, was den Bamberg dann eigentlich als Mannschaft gelungen ist. Ich glaube 60% Zweier, 50% Dreier. Hat die Ulma Defense da heute nicht so gegriffen, wie sie es oft in der Saison hat, oder was du da die Gründe gesehen?

Ja and nein. Ich fand that sie nicht über 40 Minuten geschafft haben, physisch zu spielen. This is sicherlich ein Thema, mit dem sie sich da beschäftigen mussten anders haben die Bambergers dann geschafft, zu guten Würfel zu kommen, aber man muss auch nicht so viel kritisieren, sondern viel mehr loben, das Shotmaking von den Bamberger da heute herausragen, gerade bei Avi Watson. And then it's also verteidigen. When the gigner einfach gut treffen, dann hast du halt eine Probleme, ja.

Geben die Ulm for the Saison, your hauptele is in the playoffs to come and all the other is bonus. The last year were a shit erfolgreicher. What if the organization that draws?

I would from so I trust that it was a good session at the end. Also that it's not the same. But all in all would say that it was an interperformance in the leistings fairy and for all the budget of manch in the liga. Egal how many definitions, but I think on these three factors can uples that they either nicht erfüllt sind.

Wenn du Budget and Leistungsfähigkeit ansprichst, ganz am Ende waren zwei Spieler auf dem Platz, die das Budget nicht allzu sehr in Anspruch genommen haben, denke ich, and auch von der Saison nicht unbedingt ganz oben dabei waren, Vista Faye and Theo Milicic. Wie viel war das vielleicht ein Statement oder was hast du da gesehen?

Gute Frage. Die Frage habe ich mir auch gestellt. Ich habe sie on air extra nicht aufgegriffen, weil ich sie nicht beantworten kann. Entweder das war ein Blick nach vorne, weil Tyelson und jetzt auch Tami Koya dableiben werden, die Mannschaft entwickeln wollen, vielleicht auch schon mal ein Zeichen setzen, das sind unsere zukünftigen. Oder auch vielleicht eine Strafe in Richtung ein paar Spieler, die nicht ihre Leistung abgerufen haben. Also Soriano zum Beispiel in der zweiten Halbzeit, glaube ich, gar nicht gespielt oder nur ganz kurz. Wir hatten es noch in der Halbzeit thematisiert. Also Sengenfelder, Letlam, Soriano machen zusammen 30 von 47 Punkten. In der zweiten Halbzeit wird es nicht mehr gespielt. It's jetzt nicht 1-1 dieselbe Position, aber ich fand schon auch, dass es als Zeichen an die Mannschaft verstanden werden konnte. Wer Bock hatte, sich bis um 110% abzukämpfen und wer vielleicht nicht ganz.

Wenn wir auf die Bamberger schauen, haben jetzt einen 3-0-Sweep. Letzten Endes auch alle Spiele einfach, ja, es war knapp, aber doch finde ich relativ kontrolliert gewonnen. Welche Chancen gibst du denen und wen erwartest du im Halbfinale als Gegner?

Ich erwarte Fechter als Gegner und gebe ihnen gute Chancen, diese Serie zu gewinnen. Super gecoacht. Anton Gavel zeigt immer mehr, was sie für ein brillanter Coacher ist. Ingame auch hat man in Spiel 3 gesehen. Die Rotation, nachdem sie in Foul Trouble waren, sie spielen ja eben eine kleine Rotation. Die ist so auszubalancieren, dass es trotzdem läuft, ist schon beeindruckend. Hat er wieder geschafft und ich glaube, deswegen sind sie für mich auch der Favorit. In den letzten 20 Spielen haben sie 17 gewonnen. Also, warum nicht? Verloren haben sie nur gegen Fechter.

Okay, dann doch nochmal einen Punkt mit dabei. Wenn du Fechter vorn siehst, heißt das auch, dass Alba verliert. Wie siehst du die?

Könnte ja schnell altern, mein Take, aber ich glaube Fechter in 4. Alba befindet sich in so einer Übergangsphase, wo weiß ich jetzt nicht, ob das die richtige Formulierung ist, aber zu wenig Zug in vielem drin ist, habe ich das Gefühl. Da ist immer sehr viel Nettigkeit unter den Personen, sehr viel Zufriedenheit, auch mit Ergebnissen, die vielleicht nicht so zufriedenstellend sind. Vielleicht ist auch was einer Mannschaft dann vielleicht nicht so gut tut. Vor allem wenn sie nicht so viele Veterans dabei haben, die dann zumindest im Hintergrund sagen, so, hey Jungs, wir müssen mal.

Vielleicht auch der ein oder andere Veteran, der auf dem Spielfeld extrem herausragend ist, aber vielleicht auch nicht unbedingt der, der dann in der Kabine Druck macht, oder?

Mit Martin Hermannson? Ja, der ist glaube ich noch einer von den wenigen, der's macht, aber auch der ist ja keiner, der den jemandem irgendwie in den Hintern tritt or so. Also ich hab jetzt erst den Podcast gehört von dem Violer Taus Hamburg, where the coach zu Gast war bei Stefan Kochen Podcast, we brought more Arschlöcher. Also with very dare words, would I say then fast the game? Thomas Stroll had the platform and many warm words about Thorsten Leibniz verloren. In a stark bedankton and Leibniz self had a word. What has you this update?

Alles in allem aber this last time has stark verwundering with this pressemitteiling. But aus sportlicher, absolutely verstanding. Clark, they verlieren the best manager the letter in the basketball Bundesliga. Gleichzeitig for Thorsten Leibniz sowas von verständlich, dass heute this thing macht in Bayern finde ich eine überragende Besetzung. I think this passt wie die Faust aufs Auge.

Koskawöl, das waren drei, wie Sie angesprochen haben, recht knappe Spiele, trotzdem auch ein deutliches 3 zu 0 dann am Ende. Wie wichtig war es, dass sie mit ganz viel Schwung seit dem Pokal in die Serie gekommen ist, hat das der Stabilität in den drei engen Situationen gehört?

Kann sein. Trotzdem, we have noch nie so eine Serie gespielt. Also we have nie gegen einen Gegner dreimal hintereinander gespielt, immer die gleichen Gesichter zu sehen, immer die gleichen Spieler, die Plays and all. Also the adjustments, die sich einstellen müssten. Sicherlich hält sowas when a Siegserie had, but in großen anders, I think we had in dieser Siegeserie ein paar Spiele where we hinten lagen. Das waren auch hier in Ulm waren wir double digits hinten. It is good for us to show that we so get better machen than in the series. Hatten uns nur teilweise gelungen. Ich glaube im dritten Viertel war das beste Beispiel, dass wir das geschafft haben. Klar, wenn man von außen sich auch die Würfel herausspielt, ist es gut, wenn man sie trifft. Und klar, zu der Halle, ich meine, ich habe das ja selber auf der anderen Seite erlebt, es ist die unglaubliche Stimmung, genauso wie in Bamberg. Die beiden Halle haben sich nichts wegzunehmen. Deswegen auch von Fanlager eine unglaubliche Serie, was das angeht.

Uh yeah, I think so. I mean, it feels like a lot of a lot of near misses this season. Um, you know, nearly made the Euro Cup playoffs, uh made the playoffs here, and and and you know, that was that's the goal at the start of the season. You make the playoffs, you give yourself a chance to win the championship. Um But at the end of the day, like you you definitely want to win one of these one of these two home games um and and give our give our fans something back on in a playoff uh playoff atmosphere. But um yeah, it in some ways uh want to say thanks to Torsten um for for all of his service to Ulm and also he brought me here. Um big big reason that I came to Ulm to to coach and um and wish him the best of luck. And then also uh thankful to our staff. We have a couple staff members leaving. Um and and um those things were decided, some of those things were decided during our season. So, you know, it wasn't it wasn't always easy. Um and uh but that that's part of sports, that's part of basketball. Uh also thankful for the team to to put, you know, as a coach, they they fought to get in the playoffs. Um we had a couple times where we we were down and we were pretty low in the standings, I think, and they fought back a couple winning streaks that look where where we look look good, playing good basketball. You go through the normal things that everybody goes through with with injuries, and we come out, we we we finish sixth place, and you know, we had a chance. Uh you know, the total combined score is relatively close. The two games in Bomberg were were a closer final score, but uh just not quite enough against you know a very good basketball team.

Looking at the game today, uh Messi Afay and um Teo Militic finished the game. Not not people who played a lot um in the last couple of weeks, I would say. Um what was the thinking or the reason for putting them in in the decisive minutes of the season?

SPEAKER_01 10:35

Well, I'm I'm not sure. I'm not sure the the point spread, but uh I think we're down by 15. Um and uh you know Teo has played through the season, he gave us something, he's plus six in the game. Uh Mesa uh fresh body, similar body to some of the guards from from Bomberg, hoping that he could match them a little bit. I think he had two really good looks and both were good shots in the first half. Of course, you you want one of those to drop. Um felt like if we if we could sneak one, uh sneak one today, we had a better chance. Obviously, we gotta get one, but but uh uh going a little bit deeper. That you know uh Anton's players played big minutes and they played very well. The quality is very good. Um I thought I thought our best chance was to try to wear them down a little bit physically. And uh and Tao and Tao and uh Mesa have done a good job through the season. So I think the final moments was also trying to find a find a quick shot and Teo to push the tempo, but that that that's all that was behind it.

You mentioned a few players leaving the organization um at the same time before the game and was announced that time McCoy stays for the uh for two years. Can you talk about what he means for you personally and also for the organization?

SPEAKER_01 11:48

Well, I mean he he he's got some longevity now. Obviously, he was part of the championship team here with Anton a couple years ago. Um helped helped us last year to the to Vice Meister, and and um he's very good at what he does. So he's also an enjoyable person to work with, um to be around, and and a wealth of knowledge. So very excited that he decided to stay on on board. And uh while while some other while some others were leaving, um, you know, we're able to keep the coaching staff together again. So I think it's a good thing moving forward.
